Concept
The browse dialog is used to enter search parameters that
will filter results returned. This makes searching for the required record(s)
efficient.
A number of actions can then be undertaken on the selected
record from the browse dialog
Access
- Menu Items beginning with Edit/View (Except for
Module Control Records)
- Menu Items beginning with Access
- [F2] on a Lookup
field
Dialog
The Browse dialog is split into two sections
Search Criteria
Search
criteria enable the user to restrict the number of records displayed in the results
grid.
The more fields entered, the more
refined the search and the fewer records displayed in the results grid.
When
accessing any browse only active records will be displayed by default.
Once
the search fields are entered, click
to populate the results grid.If the expected record is not displayed:
- Uncheck the Active checkbox, and
again
the search criteria, enter new parameters and
again

Criteria can be

The
results grid will be populate with records that match the search criteria
entered.
To
perform an action on a record, click the record so it is highlighted and then click
the [Button] for the action
required.
Types of Browse
Dialogs
These fall into three categories:
Simple Browse
Searching
is available on only three items. The
dialog presented will be similar to:
Semi Simple Browse
These
have the same functionality as a simple browse, but may have one or two extra
fields that may be searched. The extra
fields only are documented in the originating browse document.
Complex Browse
These
have the same functionality as a simple browse.
They have extensive other search capabilities and in some cases allow
processes to be initiated. The extra
search functionality is documented in the originating browse document. Links
