Using the Argos Server to Run a Batch Process

Pre-Requisites

1. The Argos Server is installed and running [on the server]

Server Status and Shutdown

The Argos Server from displays the status of the server and the job queue

The following dialog will display:

Server Heartbeat

This section displays the heartbeat of the server.

The server sends an online heartbeat to the database every 30 seconds. If the database was updated within the last minute by the server, the server will show as online.

Only one server can be online at a time. If a server detects another server with a higher ID it will automatically shutdown.

If a server is shutdown, the server application can only be restarted manually on the server machine.

Field	Explanation
ID	Displays the Server ID from the Command Prompt
Last Active (UTC)	Displays the Last Active time for the server in UTC time
Online	If the Server is online this will display as Yes, if offline this will display No
Status	Displays the Status of the Server i.e. Shutdown Requested, Forced Shutdown Requested, Shutdown Complete

Job Status

Once a job has been assigned to a server it will not be reassigned. If the server goes offline and a new server comes online, jobs assigned to the old server will be ignored.

ID	Displays the Job ID
Created At	Time of the Batch Process run from within Argos Vault
Created By	Argos User
Type	Batch Process
Parameter	Batch Process Code
Start Date	The Start date and time for a repeating task
Repeat Daily	If the task is a one off, the Repeat Daily will display as No If the task is a repeating task, the Repeat Daily will display as Yes
Status	The status of the job i.e. Ready to Start, Started, Completed, Cancelled
Allocated Controller	The server ID that the batch process was run on
Progress	The progress of the job
Message	Displays a message regarding the batch process jobs: If the job has run with no issues, Vault has finished will display If there is an error on one of the jobs, the error message will display

Details Specific Function Buttons

[Buttons]	Explanation
	To refresh the form click the refresh button
	To shut down the server after all its queued jobs have completed
	To shut the server down after its current job ignoring jobs assigned to it
	Will only display if a repeating daily job is selected The repeating job will be stopped and will need to be set up again to continue running
	Closes the Argos Server Application The Application will continue to run

Running a Batch Process on the Server

The Batch Process Browse will display:

If the Server is online the following message will display:

Select  to run the process on the server

Select  if you want to run the process on your computer

The Create Job dialog will display. If the task is to be a recurring task select the Repeat Daily check box. This will display a Start Hour (0-23) field where you can enter the hour that you want the repeating task to be run at.

Daily Enter a Start Date and Start Hour (0-23), the batch will be scheduled to run daily at the hour specified from the date chosen You can use this frequency to set up hourly batch task schedules Fortnightly Enter a Start Date and Start Hour (0-23), the batch will be scheduled to run fortnightly at the hour specified from the date chosen Month End This will default to the last day of the current month as a read only option Monthly Enter a Start Date and Start Hour (0-23), the batch will be scheduled to run monthly at the hour specified from the date chosen None Default, a selection of Daily, Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly or Month End must be chosen Weekly Enter a Start Date and Start Hour (0-23), the batch will be scheduled to run weekly at the hour specified from the date chosen

Once you have selected  a job will be sent to the Argos Server job status and will then be run on the Server Machine
