To create a dedicated Training Database where users can safely explore system features and practice processes without affecting live production data.
Setup
Create a Ledger Data folder structure for the
Training ledger under the ArgosData folder.
Obtain Database Backup to use as the training
database.
Create new Database on SQL Server.
Restore backup into new Database.
Assign access to the database for the Argos
Users SQL Login as db_owner & public.
Create a system ODBC DSN Connection for the
training database on all machines which will access the training database. The DSN name must end with the text “_TRAINING” (case sensitive).
This will cause the main screen
of Argos Vault to reset the colour to red and will prompt the user, with a
warning when they log in, that the system is in training mode. They will be advised to take care as processes
may impact on live data as file paths may still point to live files.
Create a shortcut to Argos Vault on each machine
used to access the training database and set the connection details (including
the DSN setup in step 6) in the shortcut parameters.
Test to ensure connection to the correct
database.
